Right. I’ll shut up. But let me close off by suggesting a video that does a good job speaking to one of the issues more significant than irritating chunks of content cut out and resold as DLC… and speaking to it in a constructive way.

They even got invited to sit down with EA execs and talk it over, though that talk basically ended with EA saying that they didn’t care about anything except shoring up short-term profits — no matter how harmful that focus might or might not be elsewhere — because anything else is difficult to market test.

Or, as I’d be inclined to put it, “The bomb we’re going to use to open this treasure chest might or might not harm us, but since we can only test the effects of bombs on wooden treasure chests (as opposed to their effects on people), opening the treasure chest is the only consequence of the explosion we’re going to base our actions on.”

The point wasn't so much to convince you to avoid buying and playing games that you like -- again, I do the same thing with Bioware -- so much as an endeavor to convey a better understanding of what the problem actually is. For all the noise people make about DLC and such, it's really the least important issue; it's just the complaint with the most immediately visible and personally-felt outcome. And it certainly isn't just that EA is somehow automatically in the wrong for wanting to make money.

I can see that in a way. Find a target that’s easy to exploit, no matter how small it is, and make it the main issue of your concerns. And I thought you did a really great job explaining it. You’re seriously one of the smartest people on Tumblr.

Problem is with EA and their business practices, and this is true for most all of the AAA publishers, the more you buy from them, the harder they try to screw you over in the future until even you can't stand it. Also, the lazier they're going to be on future iterations. Overall, it's damaging to the health of the industry. EA crossed the line for me years ago. It's only a matter of time before they cross your line of acceptable business practices or go out of business.

I think Twi has written the book on the concerns people have with EA.

I know some of their business practices are not the best. I find it annoying that I have to pay $4 to download a course in Tiger Woods, when it used to be part of the game. It’s a bit cheating when you can buy add-ons for games to get a 5-star recruit or max stats on a player right away (and to be fair, other non-EA games do it too).

But I like EA Sports because they crank out games that I want to play. I like sports. I like sports video games. I saw on Twitter today people in the fandom bitching about how the next XBox is going to be a huge sports hub. Well boo fucking hoo, sports is a revenue generator. Don’t dismiss a sports video game of sports content on your system because you don’t like it. I swear, I feel like a black sheep in this fandom sometimes with the video game choices I make. Exaggeration of term notwithstanding.

I think in the end, it just comes down to what you prefer and how much you’re willing to pay for it. EA Sports gives me what I want, so I buy from them. And I don’t have to buy the extra add-ons. I apologize if I missed the point Twi. That’s how I feel though.

Considering the people I hang out with IRL, you could say that MLP is my guilty pleasure.

In general though, I don’t know if I have anything like that. Closest I can think of is watching political drama play out. Also, I missed the rest of your TMI so I can’t fire these back at you ;P

I don't know. If they all learned how to play. I think I'd have it like this: Twilight is the two-way forward Center who does both offense and defense when needed, Fluttershy and Rainbow are the Genie magic poofs Sunglasses /wing/-ers/forwards. Applejack and Rarity are the Defense. And Pinkie Pie is the Goalie who makes saves in some unorthodox ways ala Dominik Hasek and maybe even a bit of a twitch tail to help.

Blues. My heart’s pretty set in St. Louis for sports. Apart from the Rams…ew.

Hmmm…good question. The best I could come up with is…

Center - Rainbow Dash. Who else is your leader and best player?
Forwards - Fluttershy and Rarity.
Defensemares (hurr hurr) - Pinkie Pie and Twilight.
Goalie - Applejack. Probably the only one willing to go in between the pipes.

Honestly, the only ones that I can see playing are AJ and Dash. The rest I wouldn’t know where to put. This would be a bad team.
